blue light phones

Question: Why doesn't the campus get bluelight phones if it is concerned about rape? Answer: The last reason I heard was because it would make the campus appear to be unsafe. We don't want the campus to feel unsafe to people. ~ An Alumni womenspeak members response

undergroundgirl, sometimes it is better to bring in a second or third party to give their opinion. advice from outsiders can be beneficial as well. at least they are taking the steps in order to try and improve SU's reputation.

I took a class where this topic came up. We asked our professor why we don't have those lights up, and she said that the SU Administration said it was because the blue lights take away from the 'beauty' of the campus. However, when something happens to a person, such as the rape scandals, and God forbid, a death, I'm sure they must think the color of blood is more important than our safety.

oh my god. if we don't have blue lights because some moron in the adminstration thinks it's an issue of esthetics, we're doomed. i sure would like to hear the adminstration explain this. neither esthetics or reputation is worth the safety of the students--or the faculty and staff. they have to walk around here too.

breathe no more.....i agree with you about the personal safety issues you were talking about...i just was referring to what undergroundgirl said. i didnt think she was referring to just the bluelight phones, but the overall reputation. i do agree with the fact that SU needs to worry about those types of things
